Enhancing Services to Preserve New Forms of Scholarship

Led by NYU Libraries from 2019 to 2021 and funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, Enhancing Services to Preserve New Forms of Scholarship sought to assess existing ecosystem for preserving complex digital publications at scale, and where possible, to improve services and processes within that ecosystem. The project team included NYU Libraries, CLOCKSS, Portico, NYU Press, the University of Michigan Press, the University of Minnesota Press, Stanford University Press, and UBC Press/Ravenspace.

During the project, the team transfer digital content from publishers to preservation services, and then to assess possibilities for preservation. Based on the lessons from this work, the team then wrote the first version of our Guidelines, which appear on this website.
